answers 0:my work is closing-they wont tel anyone when or what is going to happen. I what to know if we have any protection under the law-do we have a right to know ahead of time, do we get severance pay, etc. It is a dental office in Maryland if that helps. Thanks for your answers!answers 1:As a rule, most owner operated small businesses will not be required to give an advance notice; nor is there a requirement for any severence beyond wages earned and/or any amounts contracted for. Try the MD Department of Laboranswers 2:Evefry state has different laws, check with yoru local employment standards office. Generaslly the longer you have been employed, the more notice is required. But notice can be either advance warning, or simp! ly paid out as a payment.answers 3:You have nothing. They can not pay bills so they can not be sued for closing. You get what give you and be grateful. The time this happened to me I got to work and they had our last paycheck and took the company truck and left me with no way home, 12 mile walk.
