Bernadette Roel: So, I went to Board Game Geek www.boardgamegeek.com and looked up "Flames Of War" because though I had heard of it, I wasn't familiar with the game.It is a minitures war game, which means that you have figures that you move on the board and have them battle eachother in simulated battles, like those from WWII. The reason it can be a simulation of WWII is that it only uses forces available from that time, so no Harrier Jets and no Hoverbikes.I can't quite say why it's so expensive, it might be because it's a bit of a niche game and there aren't a ton of people looking to play it so to make it worth making the metal figures the company makes them high quality so that they'll have happy customers, but you trade good quality with high price. The game is probably kind of nerdy, but it is a strategy war game more than a D&D type roll playing game, so it's not as nerdy as I am(I'm a huge nerd and proud of it. My screen name comes from a comedy music DJ and Myster! y Science Theater 3000. I'm wearing a Green Lantern shirt and have three Batman shirts. So, I'm a nerd and I love doing nerdy things, don't be ashamed, it's just a game and is really fun when you actually know what you're doing.)But, like I said, I don't have any experience with the game. Go check out the page and the forums on BGG, it's a great source for gaming as a hobby and wargaming is it's own seperate subset with the Boardgame community.I hope this has been helpful. Good luck and good gaming....Show more
