answers 0:So I missed an appointment on Monday while I am still on leave. And they are pulling my Da 31 because of it. From what I was told it was my acting platoon SSG. My question is, can they do this?answers 1:Dude. Yesanswers 2:Was the appointment scheduled before you applied for leave? If it was, did you try to cancel or reschedule it? Was it a "high-vis" type of appointment such as dental, medical, or professional development? If the answer to any or all of these questions is yes, then your leadership has the authority to recall you from leave status. As someone else stated, your PSG can't revoke your leave; if it was, then you have attracted the attention of your unit commander.answers 3:yeap.answers 4:yes, did you cancel the appointmnet ?then you screwed upanswers 5:Missed medical and dental appointments are visible to brigad! e commanders. That is why they are so adamant in punishing people for it. In the past leaders wouldn't think that missing an appointment was a big deal if there was something else going on; on more than one occasion I saw a soldier flat out told that he wasn't going to an appointment because of some last minute training or motor pool duties that came up. After it became apparent that a missed appointment costs the Army money due to the wasted slot, commanders were ordered to make soldiers attend their appointments or cancel it with enough time so another soldier can fill the slot. Some appointments can't even be canceled by the soldier, the commander and 1SG has to cancel it and jusify the cancelation, such as with Class 3 or 4 dental appointments. But, to answer your question, your PSG isn't authorized to pull your leave. He can recommend to the 1SG that your leave is pulled and that recommendation can go to your CO, who can be the approving authority to pull your leave. How! ever, since you said that you flew home in one of your comment! s I can see that having them force you to fly back before your leave is over can cause an undue financial hardship for you in changing your ticket. If I was your leader I would not want you to be in that type of position. It would be better to deal with you when you get back, since I can counsel you then. It would be a different story if you was being recalled for a last-minute deployment, since that can usually be used for a refund of any fees you would have to pay the airline....answers 6:PSG or acting PSG don't have that authority. The approval official or higher (company commander or higher) has the authority to rescind leave, even if it's during the approved leave period.
